It's an acronym for bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, sadism and masochism. It mainly involves the aspect of control to give and receive pleasure through various measures such as establishing highly dominant or submissive roles and playing them out on a scene. Another one, that is connected with the roleplay, is the use of toys that inflict stimulating pain. Notice the word "stimulating" because the purpose is not to hurt but to use pain and restraint to pleasure your partner or the more common saying: "the right kind of pain."

Breaking down what each of the four aspects mean:

Bondage is the act of bonding someone and limiting their movement, fostering an environment where the submissive will put their trust in you to not put them in danger and instead explore new sensations in light of them being held back.

Discipline mainly revolves around establishing rules for both the dominant and submissive to follow.

Dominance mainly involves the dominant to take the lead in the scene and ensure that they are using dominance to incite consensual submission whether in or out of the bedroom.

Submission mainly involves the submissive to consensually obey (in terms of the rules set in place) to the dominant's commands.

Sadism or Sadomasochism is inflicting or receiving pain through physical or emotional form (again, all consensual and talked about in the rules set), and feeling pleasure from it.
